44MP Full-Frame BSI Sensor
At the heart of the SL3-P is a newly developed 44MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor designed to maximize image quality, dynamic range, and low-light performance. The backside-illuminated architecture improves light-gathering efficiency while reducing noise, producing outstanding detail, smooth tonal transitions, and excellent clarity across a wide range of shooting conditions.
The sensor captures up to 14 stops of dynamic range and offers a native ISO range of 50-200,000, providing exceptional flexibility for challenging lighting situations. Leica’s Triple Resolution Technology allows photographers to capture images at 44MP or 26MP while utilizing the full sensor area, helping optimize file sizes without sacrificing image quality.
Advanced Autofocus & High-Speed Performance
The SL3-P features Leica’s most advanced autofocus system, combining phase detection, contrast detection, and object detection technologies into a powerful hybrid autofocus architecture. Supported by 819 selectable autofocus points and intelligent subject recognition, the system delivers fast, accurate tracking for portraits, action, wildlife, documentary work, and video production.
Machine-learning algorithms continuously analyze subject movement to improve tracking accuracy and reduce focus hunting. The camera can shoot continuously at up to 40 frames per second with autofocus support, making it equally capable of capturing fast-moving subjects and decisive moments.
For ultra-high-resolution applications, Multishot Mode creates composite images up to 176MP, making it ideal for commercial product photography, fine art reproduction, architecture, and landscape photography.
